Summer Solstice

My most favorite piece of all time.

"Let shadows fall behind, Turn and Face the Summer Solstice Sun"

is incised into her Creative Paperclay® center base. Each panel of the triptych has hand sculpted paper clay fruits and vegetables found in my part of the world from the spring equinox, through the summer solstice to the fall equinox.

She is basically a bust with a cernit head and hands on a jointed wood upper body. she has glass eyes, antique lace collar and apron, moonstone ear rings, dyed mohair wig.

I owe great thanks to Heartwood Manufacturing and my husband Steve who used all the fabulous tools and tricks they have to cut the solid cherry frames for the panels! They fit PERFECTLY and are a marvel.
